What is NAATI and NAATI Approved Courses? |
| NAATI is the acronym of National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters. It is the only authority in Australia responsible for translation and interpretation accreditations and recognitions. NAATI is also the organisation designated by DIAC to conduct occupational assessments for translators and interpreters. |
| NAATI Approved Courses are those approved by NAATI that will lead to certain awards. In general, there are two ways to obtain NAATI accreditation. One is to sit examinations held by NAATI; the other is to do a NAATI approved course and successfully pass relevant examinations in the course of study. The statistics over the years shows that the accreditation rate through sitting NAATI examinations has been fairly low – less than 10%. This is mainly because the candidates are unfamiliar with the examination formats and criteria, nor have they undergone systematic training and practice. The best way to solve this problem is to enroll in a NAATI approved course. The systematic and specific study of translation knowledge and techniques offered in such a course will lead to NAATI accreditation. Details |
